Orange Business’ Norwegian data centers

20 years of 100% uptime on our data center services

Orange Business has operated its own data centers in Norway and Sweden for over 20 years, achieving 100% uptime for both our internal operations and our Cloud Managed Services, as well as Colocation services in Norway.

Our environmental strategy in data centres

20 years of focus on sustainability and energy efficiency

From the start we have focused on recycling, equipment reuse, and energy efficiency in our operations. We were the first to achieve ISO 14001 and 50001 certifications for data centers in Norway.

Critical infrastructure

We have operated critical infrastructure for vital society functions from our data centers for nearly two decades. We have designed and built solutions for both Tempest and EMP, as well as solutions compliant with military grade security requirements, the Security Act, and the Norwegian Electronic Communications Act. We tailor all solutions to meet your specific needs.

Always present

Our team of experts can offer 24/7 availability.

Datacenter Oslo

Central location

In Norway, we own and operate two mirrored data centers centrally located in the Oslo region, supplemented with a backup site at a rented location. This gives you optimal connectivity for both people and technology, as we are close to major fiber and power infrastructure hubs, just 15 minutes from Oslo city center and 30 minutes from Oslo Airport Gardermoen (OSL).

Built for high redundancy

The locations of our data centers have been chosen to ensure sufficient distance to prevent local incidents from affecting other data centers, while still close enough to offer active/active synchronization of critical IT services. This supports your needs for the operation of business-critical services.

Robust infrastructure

Because we guarantee 100% uptime on the core infrastructure of our data centers, we have prioritized designing and building both our power and cooling installations in a 2N configuration. With dedicated high-voltage transformers, diesel generators, locally stored fuel sufficient for at least 48 hours, and battery banks and UPS systems, your services are on solid ground.

Security

To access the computer rooms, you must pass through at least five physical security layers, including perimeter security and an outer shell with industry standards starting at RC3 to RC6 and SR-1 to SR-5. Personal access cards with unique encryption codes, man traps for individual entry, outdoor and indoor surveillance cameras with continuous video recording, and 24/7 security personnel are examples of security measures that need to be negotiated before reaching customers’ locked racks, modules, and cages.

In addition to physical security, we ensure the safety of our customers and employees through automated solutions such as VESDA fire detection and inergen low-oxygen gas fire suppression systems, along with a direct connection to the fire department. We have defibrillators, first aid equipment, and certified first aid personnel available in our data centers.

Connectivity

We are carrier-independent. Telenor, Telia, Eidsiva, Orange, Altibox, Globalconnect, and Fortum Fiber are among the providers that already offer fiber and IP-VPN capacity directly into our data centers. We have also set up our telecom infrastructure to accommodate additional local and international providers.

Orange Business provides its own ISP services and network connectivity between our data centers. We have built redundant pathways with dark fiber and can deliver dedicated fiber wavelengths between locations with full diversity and redundancy.

We have 100 Gbit fiber to multiple transit providers and internet exchange points in Norway and other European capitals. We offer high performance, capacity, and redundancy.

Sustainability

Since we began operating our own data centers in 2007, Orange Business has recognized that sustainable operations are crucial to supporting our strategy of being a market leader. Data centers are naturally high consumers of energy and equipment, so we have always focused on energy efficiency and reuse. We were early adopters of ISO 14001 and 50001 certifications for our data centers, both as proof of our commitment and as tools for systematic development.

All our ISO certifications, including ISO 14001 and 50001, are managed and controlled through our integrated management system. By integrating our environmental and energy management efforts under the same umbrella as safety, anti-corruption, and quality, we ensure focus on sustainability across the organization and top management.

We continuously work to promote a healthy social culture where new approaches, methods, and ideas are encouraged. This means regularly modernizing our operational methodology, including improving waste sorting, equipment reuse, energy efficiency, and pollution prevention. Our current operational practices are the result of decades of optimization, and all employees at the data centers are actively involved in this effort.

This is also reflected in our work with subcontractors, where we impose strict requirements on resources, processes, and activities involved in delivering our services. We ensure sustainability in every step of our service production, such as by reducing packaging materials and regularly testing suppliers' models for energy efficiency.

As a customer of Orange Business data centers, you can be confident that we take sustainability seriously.

Colocation

Over 12 years of colocation

We also deliver colocation services from our Norwegian data centers. We are proud of the fact that our customers have never experienced power failure or lost cooling for their services.

We build tailored solutions based on our customers’ specific demands and requirements, as well as standardised spaces from 2 to 10 racks. We also offer single racks through partners, with several configurations from 1U to whole racks.
